The Pastors' Responsibilities

In 1743, Baptist Minister Benjamin Griffith wrote for the Philadelphia Baptist Association A Short Treatise Concerning a True and Orderly Gospel Church.  In Griffith’s Short Treatise, he described well the responsibilities of a pastor.  Among other things, Griffith said that pastors were to:

Preach God’s Word,
Watch over the flock,
Administer all the ordinances of Christ,
Pray for the sheep,
and model Christ-likeness.

Griffith’s responsibilities of a pastor described above summarize well the responsibilities of Mike and the other pastors at Grace.  The main difference between Mike (Grace Baptist’s staff pastor) and the non-staff pastors at Grace Baptist is that Mike is set aside vocationally for the work of the ministry, while our non-staff pastors give themselves fully to the work of the ministry around their vocations.
